You wake up, shower. Black shirt or Blue? Black. Coffee or Tea? Black… Coffee. The day begins; you walk out your door. Meanwhile in the rest of the world they do the same. You get in your car, slide the next hit into the stereo. You drive away, never noticing she has the same routine. He turns before you at the stoplight, singing the next hit. His mind is on the road, your mind is on the road, and her mind is on the guy who just drove by. You are all just particles moving in a stream, just endless junk in the mass, not necessary for being. You head towards the highway, the sun now shines bright so you reach for your sunglasses, the same one’s that line their brow.

These roads now are desolate, the places you learned these now robotic ways of steering and braking. These roads you know so well, yet visit so little. Some have never seen this road, it was not part of them. But the road sometimes calls out to them, and someday they may test its curves. You slam the car into third, the motor starts to whine. You slide around the turn, the girl now noticing you as you drive. She maintains her course, just as he does too.

They stay in what is simple, what you don’t have to work for. Your heart races as you’re on the road, you change out your cd. A release is overwhelming, you are now focused determined. The road was never invisible, your mind just made it so. The harder lines, and steeper grades cause you to drive with more control. Soon it all comes back to you, and you feel so much more than just a photocopy of the person on TV. A simple pleasure denied by a routine turned to habit, a thought process lost. You feel something different, and take enjoyment in.
