So Chad Pearson just informed me the Heath Ledger was found dead in NYC this afternoon. The NY times fills in the details:

“The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment building at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, according to the New York City police. Mr. Ledger was 28.”
A man has passed far too before his time, and all I can help to think about is how lasting this will make his performance in The Dark Night, which opens this summer. I believe it is the final film he has completed, and if standing as his final performance, should be quite spectacular (and perhaps a fitting end to his career).
