I know my list is full of lame pop albums, I know it’s not as cool as your list with Vampire Weekend, Kings of Leon and Bon Iver. I realise my lameness in full, it’s who I am, I love pop music. All those great indie bands write some brilliant songs, but rarely do I ever find myself with a hook stuck in the head that can only be cured by singing along to hits like I do these artists listed above. Forgive me, all the indie hits blend together into an un-craved mass of great music that lies un-played in my iTunes.

Joel added these clever words on Dec 22 08 at 3:02 pmAre you saying Vampire Weekend doesn’t get stuck in your head? because… wow, they really get stuck in mine. That Augustana record is damn good. But I hated All the Stars…. Mainly because they sped up all of the tracks. And I wasn’t happy with the production.

I’m just cool enough to know that if I was really cool these albums would be in my top 10.In fact, of the 3 listed, the only album I have heard (and have) is Kings of Leon, and it’s good (though I was a little disappointed, this sex is NOT on fire). I know these 3 releases really do deserve the buzz they get, I have good friends whose opinions I can trust on that. I’ve been meaning to get into VW, but never follow through.
I’m really just making fun of how engulfed in pop I am, and at the same time taking a stab at a ton of other indie artists who all play downstrokes on the 16ths and sing about who knows what, it all blends together.
Joel added these clever words on Dec 29 08 at 11:20 amOooooh! Well, okay then. You should work on that follow through. It really is a great record, even if it worked its way into hipster circles.
I know what you mean about the indie artists… I have a hard time not being cynical about the newest amazing indie artist. It really does all sound the same.
